On my journey being a creatorpreneur (took this cool word from Ali Abdaal) I’m facing many challenges almost every day. And that’s the price you pay for trying to break from your fears, insecurities, and doubts.
Putting content online and growing as an entrepreneur requires a lot of effort and work, which is extremely draining and exhausting. Many creatorpreneurs get caught up in the chase for numbers — more views, more readers, more subscribers…
The pressure leads to tons of stress, less sleep, and constant thoughts about what can be done better or written better. The idea of fulfillment and overall happiness gets pushed back, as you think that you’ll get those as you achieve a certain level of success.
But it’s definitely not the case. There are many stories of successful entrepreneurs that reached their goals but after a while realized they ended up with lives that don’t feel fulfilling anymore. That’s why it’s important to shift the focus from reaching a certain goal to enjoying the journey you’re having as a creatorpreneur.
It’s never too late to make some changes in your routine to get a stronger sense of meaning and fulfillment to regain your personal power. Here are some simple tips that helped me to enjoy my creator journey more and focus on what brings me more fulfillment.
Take more meaningful breaks
It’s extremely important to find time to rest and recharge. Overwork leads to burnout and a constant feeling of tiredness. Some entrepreneurs underestimate the power of breaks and feel guilty for not working.
This misconception should be dropped, as taking proper breaks helps to refresh the work and improve productivity.
When you take breaks, you regain your focus and creativity. You rest and renew the sense of well-being and fulfillment. This is especially important for people working in creative industries.
For me it can be just turning off my laptop and phone, meditating for 10–15 mins, or just laying down for a short nap.
Focus on your progress
Comparing yourself to others only makes your life more difficult. Try to surround yourself with supportive people, who celebrate small accomplishments with you.
It’s great to have a network of like-minded creators around to share your journey and struggles and get helpful advice and support.
Learn to enjoy your own journey no matter where you are in your path. Instead of looking at what others are doing, focus on your satisfaction with your work. Take pride in a job well done and celebrate your small wins.
Switching my mindset from comparing myself with more successful writers to getting inspiration from their work has changed the way I feel and work and helped me to focus more on myself and the things I write.
Spend more time outside
Cultivate a sense of awe by getting out into nature. It’s been proven that spending time outside reduces stress. Spending some time outdoors in quiet spaces and greenery calms you down and helps relax.
Also, I noticed that when I’m outside I get more creative ideas, especially when I’m not thinking about work or anything work-related. These are just coming out of nowhere but usually turn out to be the best.
Focus more on learning and self-care
Engage in more self-care and create a balanced schedule. This will help you be more fulfilled as an entrepreneur. Set a standard schedule with breaks and time offs. You need to nurture your energy, as it’s your main resource of power and drive.
Also, focus on learning something new every day. Whether it’s a new instrument you want to play or a new topic you want to find out more about, just block out some time in your schedule just for this one activity.
This helps me stay curious and fills me up with even more interest in other things like learning languages, for example.
Being a creatorpreneur is a fascinating, yet stressful career full of unpredictable issues and unique experiences.
Making your journey more fulfilling will allow you to have more joy in everything you do. With a positive mindset and a feeling of fulfillment, you’ll achieve the goal you set for yourself faster.
