Do you like hard work?
Most people don’t like hard work. We want to live happily and happily every day.
There are cultures that worship hard work. The idea is that only hard work can make you successful, you can grow yourself, you can beat others, and you can be a winner.
I presume that such thinking derives from militarism. I guess that hard work culture was born in the world by merging militarism and the competitive society of capitalism.
I don’t like this way of thinking. But I used to like this kind of thinking a little bit. I had a competitive mindset that hard work made me stronger and that I could beat others.
But the COVID-19 crisis changed my way of thinking. Happiness is not about hard work, but about having fun.
Here are some reasons why the hard work culture is a little toxic.
#1 It’s not what I really want to do when I feel hard work
When I’m doing what I really want to do, it doesn’t feel like hard work to me, no matter how hard it is. Hard work is proof that somewhere in your heart you don’t really want to do it.
Far from hard work, I feel like I’m in heaven when I’m unleashing my true passion.
#2 I may misunderstand that I am growing just by feeling that I am working hard.
I find the feeling of fatigue after hard work somehow satisfying. But I don’t know if I’m actually growing. Even if I’m not tired, there are times when I’m growing, and there are times when I’m tired and growing.
However, if you worship hard work, it’s easy to fall into the nonsensical notion that being tired always leads to growth. It’s so pointless.
Human beings can grow without hard work.
#3 Maybe I’m not productive when I feel like I’m working hard
When I am productive and efficient, my brain gets high and performs at its best. I am very happy then and feel good. So when it feels like hard work, it’s likely to be inefficient.
When I feel like I’m working hard, I take a break and take care of my body. It leads to more productivity and creativity.
#4 Worshiping hard work is good for business owners and shareholders
If I were a business owner or stockholder, I would be very happy if workers worshiped hard work. They work extremely hard for the same pay. And I’m getting richer and richer.
I suspect that capitalist rulers have worshiped hard work. I noticed this. The worship of hard work for hire is a slave to capitalism.
But when I’m a business owner, it’s a different story. It doesn’t feel like hard work when I’m a business owner because that’s what I love to do.
#5 I see no value in working hard to sabotage my health
For me, health is everything in life and the basis of happiness, so I will not allow it to get in the way.
Even if I work hard and succeed at something, it means nothing if I get sick. We can do many things and enjoy many things because we are healthy.
Just being healthy, and having a healthy body can make me feel good every day. The state of mind that says I am not happy until I am successful in something is unhealthy.
It’s cooler to live healthy every day and try something in a good mood.
#6 The process itself is a dream, so the process should not be a pain
As soon as I have a dream, I think that every day is already like a dream.
I don’t have an unhealthy way of thinking that I can’t be happy unless my dreams come true.
The process of a dream is important, and the process itself is a dream.
Having a dream and the process for that dream is a dream. I do something every day for my dreams. That every day is a dream. So I don’t make the process of that beautiful dream painful. Then I can’t enjoy every day.
I am convinced that enjoying the process of pursuing my dreams will make my life truly happy and prosperous.
Wrapping up
I’m not going to deny all the hard work. It’s individual freedom.
I live each day healthily and make challenges fun, not painful.
