Meetings have become an ever-present part of the modern workplace, with the average worker spending 31 hours per month in them. But all this collaboration can have a negative impact on productivity, breaking our concentration, frustrating us with long discussions, and wasting our time. It can also be exhausting, leading to burnout and decision fatigue. Fortunately, there are steps we can take to reclaim our time and productivity. We can set clear goals and agendas for meetings, limit their number, keep them short and focused, encourage participation and engagement, and follow up on action items. By doing this, we can break free from the meeting apocalypse and create a more productive and collaborative workplace.
