Australian companies are adopting four-day working weeks in order to alleviate labor shortages and attract talent, according to a new report by the recruitment site Indeed.
While just 0.5% of job postings referred to a four-day week in February, the share of such postings rose 50% compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Analysts suggest that the trend could alter the nature of work in the country, with a shift towards more flexibility. Recent trials of shorter weeks in the UK have shown that such arrangements can deliver productivity and revenue gains, along with reduced absenteeism and staff turnover.
