The AI tool ChatGPT from OpenAI is reportedly aiding workers to hold down multiple jobs without the knowledge of their employers. In response to enforced remote work during the pandemic, many white-collar workers took on secret second jobs to increase their income.
The trend dubbed "over employment" has resulted in workers using ChatGPT to perform their primary job more efficiently and leaving them with more time for a second job. One worker, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed to have landed a second job after using the chatbot to write his cover letters.
ChatGPT can produce a written story based on the context provided by the user. The worker even used the tool to write messages to his manager, in a way that appeared more natural.
