Co-working spaces aren't going anywhere

The rise of remote work in the modern workplace has caused co-working spaces to experience a rebirth. Co-working spaces, once a niche product, have become increasingly popular among workers who seek an alternative to the traditional office while avoiding the isolation of working from home.
From only 160 co-working spaces worldwide in 2008, there are now nearly 19,000 in 2018, illustrating their booming popularity. Co-working has expanded beyond entrepreneurs, freelancers, and gig workers to include fully-remote corporate workers seeking social connections and community.
Co-working spaces provide convenience, flexibility, and legitimacy, while also serving as a support system for those who struggle with loneliness and isolation in remote work.
The pandemic, in particular, has amplified the need for co-working spaces as a solution for remote workers seeking an alternative to traditional office settings. Although there have been publicized issues with some larger co-working companies, the demand for flexible work alternatives is here to stay.
