Sheikha stated that colleagues at Careem prioritize creating impact and fulfilling their purpose. However, many tech workers criticized his statement, with one calling it "tone deaf" and "cringe."
Some users on LinkedIn called Sheikha's statement "unrealistic," stating that it's unfair for the company to expect the best talent but not offer competitive compensation. Despite the criticism, some workers at Careem defended the statement, with one stating that they are not required to work long hours and that compensation is "ok."
