After taking a baking class for macaroons in Paris last summer, I became enamored with the idea of working in a peaceful bakery, surrounded by sweet aromas and kind guests. However, my dream was shattered when I discovered that the franchise bakery where I was offered a position had untrustworthy owners and an overwhelmingly chaotic holiday season.
Despite enduring immense stress and rude behavior from entitled customers, I learned valuable lessons about cake decorating and maintaining composure.
Although I met great people and had a supportive manager, I ultimately declined the offer to return and instead choose to bake in the tranquility of my own home or return to Paris. I encourage others who aspire to work in a bakery to follow their passion but to also be aware of the challenges and negative impacts that can come from working with certain individuals.
