In early 2024, several U.S. states will implement new laws, addressing a variety of contentious topics. These include a ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion offices at public colleges in Texas, a mandate for gender-neutral toy aisles in California, and increased access to birth control in various states.
Additionally, Illinois has passed a law penalizing libraries that ban books, and 22 states have raised their minimum wage. Michigan's Democratic-led Senate has also approved a package of stricter gun legislation, while in Minnesota, drivers can now choose "blackout" license plates and other new designs.
