As the demand for fully remote jobs continues to rise, there appears to be a steady decline in the availability of these roles, compared to when it peaked during and shortly after the pandemic.
As of December 2023, in the United States, an estimated 45.9% of job applications and searches were for remote work, yet there is a strong mismatch in supply: only close to 10% of open positions were offered as remote, according to LinkedIn's Global State of Remote and Hybrid Work 2024 report which analyzed remote work trends and availability in the U.S. and globally.
So how do you find these companies offering 10% of remote roles across the country?
A recent report from FlexJobs analyzed their database of flexibility-friendly companies who are currently offering fully remote roles, or who are actively hiring and have offered them quite recently.

How To Succeed With A Remote Job Application
Here are a couple of top tips so you can succeed in your application for a remote job:
Focus on gaining and highlighting your remote-specific job skills—those skills that are most in demand by remote-focused employers. This includes collaboration and strong communication skills, self-motivation and drive, and accountability, as well as familiarity with cloud collaboration tools and the more technical aspects of your job.
You should also work on securing networking opportunities and make this a top priority in your job search. The more you strategically network, the more contacts you can have, and you are better positioned to have access to essential conversations with key decision-makers and hiring managers.
Finally, websites such as FlexJobs and Remote.co offer more comprehensive lists of remote jobs available and you can apply filters such as level of travel, and type of remote work.
All these companies that are currently hiring for fully remote jobs, provide you with a good variety of exciting opportunities to continue working remotely and find a role that blends seamlessly with your lifestyle and career goals.
