A new study has revealed the most and least competitive job markets in the US.
The team at resume.io wanted to know where America's toughest job markets are, so they worked out the average number of applicants that LinkedIn job ads received within one week of being posted, across US cities and states.
Job seekers face the least competition in Jacksonville, Florida, where the average job posting receives just 10.8 applicants. Following behind are San Antonio (13.86) and Columbus (14.26).
The most competitive job market in the country is San Jose, California, where job ads attract an average of 153.77 applicants. Dallas and Los Angeles rank third and fourth, with 82.81 and 76.75 applicants, respectively.
Seattle, Washington saw a larger increase in job competition than anywhere else in the world, with the average number of applicants per job ad jumping by 445.4 percent over the past year.
Texas dominates the list of America's most competitive job markets, with Dallas, Houston, Fort Worth, and Austin all ranking within the top 10 cities.
On the state level, Washington has the toughest job market overall, with 41 applicants per job ad, while Wyoming is the least competitive, with just 3.64.
Job competitiveness grew by 714 percent in Wisconsin, the biggest increase of any US state, followed by Pennsylvania (436.9 percent) and Missouri (420.7 percent).
