How Inflation Is Making Halloween More Expensive, Visualized

The spookiest thing about Halloween this year is how much everything costs.

Inflation is making everything pricier right now — and, sadly, that includes festive fun.

To show how inflation has impacted the cost of Halloween in 2024, CouponFollow found the average prices of popular costumes and candy and calculated how much they had risen compared to the year before.

The most expensive Halloween candy is 3 Musketeers, which costs an average of $0.79 an ounce — a price increase of 73 percent since 2023.

Skittles are the cheapest sweets to hand out to trick-or-treaters, costing just $0.32 per ounce, on average.

When it comes to the candy whose price has inflated the most, Milky Way bars top the list, with an increase of 97 percent on the previous year.

The average Charizard costume costs around $65, making it the priciest Halloween costume in the study. A Luigi costume, on the other hand, is the most affordable, at just under $27.80.
