Majority of professionals overwhelmed by workplace change: LinkedIn

Work is changing quickly. New research by LinkedIn found that 64% of professionals from around the globe say they are overwhelmed by the pace, and 49% are worried they will be left behind.

The three most significant changes for workers are:

  • Proving they can work from home successfully, cited by 30%
  • Integrating AI into their daily work, 27%
  • Managing multigenerational teams, 25%

To underscore this, LinkedIn’s data shows a 123% increase in posts mentioning flexible work over the last two years as companies change up their return-to-office mandates. LinkedIn also noted that the use of LinkedIn Learning courses designed to build AI aptitude has spiked 117% over the last year among nontechnical professionals.

LinkedIn advises that when it comes to adapting to change, workers should stay on top of constantly changing trends, such as AI and remote work, with the latest news from trusted experts; adopt a growth mindset and approach the process with an open mind; and embrace “bite-size” learning by finding easier ways to acquire new skills and knowledge such as short-form videos that can make continuous learning feel more manageable.

LinkedIn’s research was conducted by Censuswide. It surveyed more than 20,000 professionals ages 18 to 77 across all industries in the UK, US, France, Germany, India, Australia, Brazil, the Netherlands, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
