There's a gender pay gap at the top

 


While there is a gender pay gap at the top, it is currently reversed for female CEOs, who are out-earning their male counterparts. However, this phenomenon is likely due to a small sample size, as there are only about 40 women chief executives in this group, representing just 7.9% of all CEOs in the index.



Despite this anomaly, the overall gender pay gap persists, with women still earning less than men across most industries. In 2023, the median full-time working woman earned 83% of what the median man-made, according to Census data.
