Amazon is once again allowing customers to tip their delivery drivers at no extra cost with the return of their "Thank My Driver" holiday promotion. This feature enables Amazon shoppers to show their appreciation by giving a $5 tip to their delivery drivers.
Starting December 4, customers can say, “Alexa, thank my driver,” on any Alexa-enabled device or search ‘thank my driver’ on the Amazon app or website. The driver who completed their most recent delivery will be notified of the customer’s gratitude. For each of the first 2 million thank-yous, drivers will also receive a $5 tip at no cost to the customer," Amazon explained in their announcement.
Even after the first 2 million thank-yous, customers can continue to use this feature to express their gratitude to drivers throughout the year. However, the message will not include a monetary tip. Customers who wish to continue tipping will need to do so in person.
Participating in this promotion is easy and free, making it a great way to spread holiday cheer. The holiday season is typically a busy time for Amazon delivery drivers, and this year is expected to be even more demanding. Amazon's recent Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales event, which ran from November 21 through December 2, broke records with a 6% increase in sales compared to the previous year, according to Facteus.
Amazon is continuing to promote holiday sales, with Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, stating, “We know how much our customers appreciate saving money... And we have many more fun and exciting ways for them to continue to save this holiday season.”
The "Thank My Driver" promotion has been well-received since its inception in 2022, with Amazon reporting that it has been used 40 million times. With the holiday season in full swing, now is an excellent time to participate and show appreciation for delivery drivers.
