In 2023, occupations for sales, marketing, and development managers had the highest online job advertisement rate (OJAR) in the EU, at 26.6%.
This information is based on data from the OJAR indicator, which was published by Eurostat for the first time today as experimental statistics. The indicator is derived from a novel and innovative web source on online job advertisements, making use of web-scraping technology. The OJAR lists the most sought occupations on the web, indicating where recruiters might face potential challenges in recruiting staff.
Sales, marketing, and development managers were ahead of manufacturing laborers (22.4%) and other sales workers (17.6%). Retail and wholesale trade managers (16.8%) and other clerical support workers (16.7%) rounded out the top 5 occupations.
While occupations in the public sector such as healthcare workers and teachers may also face recruitment difficulties, they did not rank among the most sought occupations online. This could be attributed to such positions often not being advertised on the web.
