Airbnb, Lyft and Uber are offering free accommodation and rides to Los Angeles wildfire evacuees

Southern California Wildfires: Ridesharing and Airbnb Lend a Hand

As wildfires rage across Southern California, displacing over 130,000 people and destroying nearly 2,000 buildings, several companies are stepping up to help.

Free Rides to Shelters:

  • Uber: Offering free rides (up to $40) to designated shelters. Use code "WILDFIRE25" in the app.
  • Lyft: Providing two free rides (up to $25 each) to shelters for a total of 500 riders. Use code "CAFIRERELIEF25" in the app.
  • Both services offer these rides until January 15th, 2025, and assure drivers won't lose earnings.

Free Temporary Housing:

  • Airbnb.org: Partnering with 211 LA to offer free stays to evacuees in need, particularly those in Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sylmar.
  • Those displaced can request assistance through a form or by contacting 211 LA.

These efforts by Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb.org provide crucial support to those affected by the devastating wildfires.
