How to find career success in 2025, according to an expert: Get ‘comfortable talking about your wins’

A recent survey conducted by Resume Templates in October 2024 revealed that **56% of full-time U.S. workers** are either actively seeking a new job or plan to do so in 2025. Among these individuals, **one in three** are willing to leave their current positions even without securing another job first. This trend reflects a shift in priorities, with many workers citing concerns over compensation, work-life balance, and job security as significant factors driving their job search.

To help individuals prepare for career success in 2025, Alison Fragale, a professor of organizational psychology and author of *Likeable Badass*, offers three key strategies:

## Identify Your Goals

Start by clearly defining what you want to achieve in the upcoming year or beyond. Fragale emphasizes the importance of envisioning a specific milestone, such as launching a new product or starting a mentorship program. Once you have identified your goals, work backward to create actionable steps that will guide your daily tasks and decisions throughout the year. This approach ensures that when faced with competing responsibilities, you can prioritize actions that will most effectively advance your objectives.

## Build Strategic Relationships

Next, identify **three to five key relationships** that can support you in reaching your goals. These individuals could be mentors, colleagues, or professionals who have experience in areas you wish to explore. Consider how you can provide value to them in 2025—whether through assisting with their projects, making beneficial introductions, or sharing relevant research. Establishing these connections and nurturing them by reaching out at least twice a year can create opportunities for mutual support when you need it.

## Communicate Your Achievements

Finally, get comfortable discussing your successes. This could involve sending updates to your supervisor about recent accomplishments or finding ways to highlight your achievements in social settings. Fragale notes that if your successes remain uncommunicated, they may go unnoticed, limiting the potential benefits you could gain from them. By effectively showcasing your wins, you can build meaningful professional relationships and enhance your career prospects.

By implementing these strategies now, workers can position themselves for greater success and fulfillment in their careers as they move into 2025.
